How to play Number Sums
The goal is to make the sum of the numbers in each row, column, and colored region equal to the clue values shown outside the board and inside each region.
- Circle the numbers that should be included in the sum.
- Use erase mode to remove numbers you don't need.
- Make sure all rows, columns, and regions work together at the same time.
- Each puzzle has only one solution – use logic instead of guessing.
Tips to improve your skills
- 1. Remove impossibilities: erase numbers that are already greater than the total in a clue box.
- 2. Use parity: if there is only one odd number in a line and the target sum is even, that odd number cannot be part of the solution.
- 3. Check extremes: if the largest number on the board is not equal to the clue total, add it to the smallest number. If their sum is already bigger than the target, the largest number must be removed.
- 4. Think globally: when you fix one region, re-check intersecting rows and columns to keep everything consistent.
